Weight Loss

Have you been trying to lose weight and are struggling? The most common mistakes that are made are restricting your body of nutrients, training hard at the gym and starving yourself. The body will not lose weight this way as it will hold onto fat as it thinks it is not getting what it needs at a cellular level.

We are all different in our approaches to losing weight. Everyone has short and long term goals. What I call 'binge' weight loss is common where a 1-2 week crash diet is taken up to lose though few pounds to fit into those jeans for that party or other social gathering. Doing this long-term will have negative effects on the body and force the body to go into a mode of persistence and hold onto body fat.

By taking your diet, lifestyle, age, gender, economic status and weight loss goals, I can tailor a programme this will work with your body, not starve you of essential nutrients the body requires and over time help you achieve your weight management goals. The Fat Free Myth

  • Fat does not make you fat, sugar does!
  • If you are sticking to a fat free diet, your body is getting more sugar then is required and less fat which is needed for weight management and the transport of essential vitamins to your body's cells.
  • Some fat free foods, apart for organic ones are full of chemicals which can be bad for you.

Starvation

  • We all at one point or another have experienced starvation. The body is a fascinating machine that has many metabolic processes. When it goes into a state of shock, such as when you are trying to lose weight, it does the opposite as to what you would like and you lose muscle rather than fat!
  • Your diet will shape your weight loss progress, not how much time you spend in the gym. As the old saying goals, abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym.
  • By eating the wrong foods, at the wrong time, your body is starving at a cellular level. When the body does not get what it needs, it sends messages to you for more food, these are known as cravings. These signals are asking for the right food, however due to the environment we are in, stress and other factors we interpret this usually as something sweet or savoury.
